Homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine first discovered by German physician Samuel Hahnemann in 1796.

Today it is a system of medicine that uses natural remedies to stimulate the body’s self-healing powers. Based on Hahnemann’s “law of similars”, this holistic approach treats the symptoms of the body and mind as a whole. Homeopaths recognise that symptoms of ill-health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person, and that the whole person needs treatment, not just the isolated symptoms of a particular illness.

Every person is unique. They think in a certain way, feel strongly about different things, and have specific physical issues that exist. They are unique only to you.

This uniqueness is what makes homeopathy so interesting. If you suffer from a particular ailment, the remedy you receive will be different from someone else who has the same complaint. There is not one homeopathic remedy for one problem.

Classical homeopathy is based on 4 major principles:

Like Cures Like
Let’s take the example of an onion. It causes people’s nose and eyes to water and run. Likewise, the homeopathic preparation of onion (allium cepa) can cure those same symptoms for someone who experiences them during allergy season.

Totality of Symptoms
Everything that you experience is part of your homeopathic picture. They are all important for the homeopath in determining a single remedy that fits all of these symptoms.

Single Remedy
Classically trained homeopaths use one carefully chosen remedy to stimulate the body’s power to begin its own healing.

Minimum Dose
In homeopathy, less is more. This is very different from the common approach and thinking of modern medicine. However, in homeopathy, we give just enough for the body to begin its own work – without any side effects to the patient.

Remedies are found in nature from plants, minerals and animals and have no lasting side effects. They can be used in conjunction with medicines you receive from your doctor and will not interfere with their efficacy.

Homeopathy is very effective for people of all ages including infants, children, and pregnant women.

It is very helpful in the treatment of most ailments, both physical and emotional.

Examples include:

Sleep disorders
Morning sickness with pregnancy

For children:

Behavioural problems
Problems with sleeping
Difficulties learning and concentrating at school
Delayed development
